Mammoth Lakes growth illustrates challenges facing Sierra Conservancy

State Bonds and Smart Growth

The Bay Area Alliance for Sustainable Communities will discuss strategies to ensure the propsed California infrastructure bond supports smart growth in the SF region, Wednesday, May 17, 9 am to noon.

The quarterly alliance meeting takes place at the Bay Conservation and Development Commission, 50 California St, #2600, near Embarcadera BART.

Sierra Land Use Summit

The Sierra Nevada Alliance is sponsoring the summit on Saturday May 6, 2006, to examine the challenges and opportunities for implementing smart growth in the Sierra. A panel will discuss the new Sierra Nevada Conservancy, and a group of veteran land use professionals will analyze campaign strategies and tactics–lobbying, building coalitions, generating media, and developing effective messages.

The summit takes place at the Lake Tahoe Community College in South Lake Tahoe. The $15 registration includes continental breakfast and lunch.
